Though conceiving is the primary reason that comes to mind, here are a few other reasons that contribute to this condition.

Thyroid dysfunction

Females might have the conditions such as hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism which affects their menstrual cycle. Those hormones are likely to regulate the body’s processes and if they aren’t synced properly, the chances of missed periods are likely to increase. Working women are likely to work around the clock. Besides, you can expect them to work in shifts and do other chores. The constant change in shifts is likely to hamper the sleep cycle which disturbs the hormonal balance.

The internal clock regulates the cellular process and therefore one does end up experiencing an irregular period.

If you have started with some new therapies to manage a certain condition, there are chances that one does end up suffering delayed menstrual periods.  Besides, the consumption of therapies such as birth control pills, IUDs, and others does have an impact on the health of women.
