  • Excessive weight

If the glucose levels in the mother are high, there are chances that the baby might grow too large. Usually, the weight of such kids is more as compared to normal ones. When the deliveries of babies take place in such conditions C-section is to be performed. 

  • Stillbirth

Gestational diabetes does create a situation wherein the baby’s death either before the birth or soon after the birth. 

  • Serious breathing issues

The accelerated levels of sugar make it difficult for the new-born to have a smoother breathing function. They’re likely to experience certain respiratory distress syndrome and this should be known during the initial stage to treat it well. 

  • Early birth 

Be it influenced glucose or any other disorder, there are chances that the risk of early delivery or labour is increased. At times such instances occur because the infant is large.

  • Future chances of high blood sugar

Women who have such ailments during pregnancy, the possibility that one does have type 2 diabetes in the future increases. 

  • Increases chances of C-section

If you end up having such problems, undergoing a c-section is common. 

  • Increased blood pressure

The complications do have the ability to increase the risk of having high blood pressure which proves to be threatening for the life of the baby.

Taking care of yourself during gestational diabetes becomes necessary. It doesn’t hamper one life but two. The basic things such as being active, consuming healthy foods, ensure you do control your weight, and follow the right diet to avoid complications.
